[Gmsh] STEP file cleaning / small edges

Hi,


I have a CAD model in the Step format and I would like to mesh it in
gmsh. But the problem is that I have some small edges in the CAD which
involve that some degenerated elements are created during the meshing. I
tried the Geometry.tolerance option to see whether the step file was
automatically improved by gmsh or not and gmsh is able to suppress the
small edges but without merging the nodes (closing th gaps left by the
suppressed edge). Therefore the geometry is no longer meshable.

I attached an example where some edges are too small (line 101 107 for
instance). The tolerance is set to 4.0 to suppress the small edges.
What could you advise me to clean this step file keeping in mind that I
would like to do that automatically because I'm dealing with
optimisation of structures.
