Use the list (note the "()") returned by the boolean command :
air()=BooleanDifference{Volume{air}; Delete;}{ Volume{gate};};
Recursive Delete{Volume{unit_box};}
BooleanFragments{ Volume{air()}; Volume{gate}; Delete;}{}
Physical Volume ("gate") = {gate};
Physical Volume ("air") = {air()};
