[Gmsh] Refining a mesh with hanging nodes to make a conforming mesh

Dear gmsh list,

I have several quadrilateral meshes in .msh format
(generated with meshio-convert [0] from deal.ii VTK output).
It loads fine in gmsh. A sample mesh is available here [1].

I would like to use the mesh in another FE system
(firedrake), but it has hanging nodes, and firedrake cannot
handle them. Is there any way to automatically refine the
mesh to generate a finer, conforming mesh?
