[Gmsh] Connecting mesh lines with geometric lines

Dear all,

I am trying to create a surface by combining a mesh line and a geometric line but I am getting this error:

"Error   : The 1D mesh seems not to be forming a closed loop"

My question is if it is possible to connect mesh lines with geometric lines in Gmsh and if so how can I do that?
