[Gmsh] some problems about gmsh

Dear developers：
         I meets some problems when I use gmsh to generate mesh.I want to ask you for help.
     (1) Can I just choose  some area of geometry to generate mesh in gmsh? Because sometimes I don't want to solve the whole area.
     (2)When I use gmsh to generate 3D mesh of one IGES file, I find that Gmsh canot generate. I don't know the problem
