[Gmsh] "Refine by splitting" does not fit to geometry

When starting from a geo file, the nodes fit the geometry when doing refinement by splitting.
When starting form a msh file, it is not always the case, as not all the information is available.

My version of Gmsh, 2.5.1, svn built today does in both cases a refining with meshing order 2 (curvilinear on), what was not the case some months ago....
