[Gmsh] Selecting multiple surface boundaries

Hello GMSH Community,
I am attempting to use GMSH to create a unstructured 2D mesh for
oceanographic modelling. I am following the tutorial here:
http://perso.uclouvain.be/jonathan.lambrechts/gmsh_ocean/
I encounter a problem when I attempt to add a 'plane surface' to my
geometry. In the tutorial the plane surface is created by individually
selecting each boundary including all islands. The problem is that my
geometry contains 1000+ islands and individually selecting each will take a
very long time. I have attempted to use the lasso selector (CTRL + left
click), but this does not seem to work when selecting lines for a plane
surface.
So does anyone know a way of selecting multiple lines while defining a plane
surface?
Thanks very much,
Clayton Hiles
