[Gmsh] Short question: Deletion of control points

Dear Member of the Gmsh-team,
dear Gmsh user,

is it possible to delete control points (eg of ellipses) somehow?  The 
manual only says that the command `Delete' has no effect of them.  
Unfortunately the (unused) control points appear in the .mesh output 
format which I use.
