[Gmsh] adaptive meshing

Hi,
I am a new comer of gmsh. I am interest in adaptive modeling, i.e. refine
the mesh of regions of interest, while other region with a coarser level, to
get an efficient physical simulation. So does the gmsh encapsulate this
function?
Please give me some hint, thanks.
