No, not if you have "holes" in the numbering of the geometry points.

If the numbering is continuous then the mesh nodes should have the same 
number as the points, provided that the geometry nodes are all part of 
the final mesh. If some geometry points are not part of the final mesh, 
you could force them to be by defining them as Physical Points (which 
will create 0-D elements).
